Loving my new Mom body
I met Stephanie a few years ago when I shot her wedding! She was such a beautiful bride! I was so excited when she reached out later to do a boudoir photoshoot with me.
When I asked Stephanie why she wanted to do a boudoir shoot she said:
“I have always been the bigger girl and have never been totally confident in my body. I’m a mom now and just want to be happy and confident in my skin and to love my body in pictures the way it is.”
Stephaine scheduled her session about a year after giving birth to her first child as a kind of, one year anniversary of becoming a Mom and growing to accept her new body. She brought her Mom with her to see her photos for the first time. Saying it was an emotional experience for all of us is a little of an understatement! We were all so moved by Stephanie’s reaction to her images and hearing how it changed her personally. She loved it so much that she wanted her Mom to do a photoshoot as well.
Stephanie’s mom, Karen, is a breast cancer survivor and just recently had her implants removed. She is now Flat and Fierce and wanted to do her own session to show her daughter and her husband that even with her “disfigured body” she feels beautiful.
I sat down with both of them and asked them how they felt about the entire experience.
Stephanie: I was definitely nervous going into the photoshoot, not knowing what to expect, and just having insecurities, but oh my gosh! By the end and now having my pictures at home, I love myself more than I did going in. Robbie is amazing. She made me feel so comfortable. I loved it so much I got my Mom to do it! I wanted my Mom to get the same experience.
Karen: I’m already crying just remembering! Remembering looking at Stephanie pictures, and they were beautiful, and of course wanting Stephaine’s self esteem to be built up. Watching how she reacted, ugh, I’m going to cry through this whole thing! I can’t even talk through it right now… (more tears of joy).

Karen: Ok, so I had breast cancer eighteen years ago, and…this is hard…I felt super confident about myself but I wanted Robbie to take some pictures so I could share that and show my daughter that I feel beautiful even with my disfigured body. Show my husband that I still feel beautiful. It was just an awesome experience to go through, Robbie just makes it so comfortable. I never hesitated, I felt confident even going into doing the pictures, and we just sat through looking at all my photos today and getting to pick the ones for my album, and I had tears pouring down my face, and it was so beautiful. Thank you Robbie! We love you! You’re awesome! We’ll see you again next year! We’ll do it again!
