Photoshoot Prep Guide
You did it - you’re booked in for a boudoir session! Now you might be thinking, what did I get myself into? There’s a lot that goes into a portrait session like this, and it can seem overwhelming. Here’s a guide to help you when prepping for your shoot - you can leave the rest up to us!
DAY OF YOUR SESSION/WHAT TO BRING
Arrive with a clean face and dry hair, wearing loose clothing. You don’t want any impressions or lines on your skin from clothing that is too tight. It’s always helpful to do a light exfoliation on your face that morning or the day before. Let the makeup artist know if you have any sensitivities, and any specific requests for makeup. We will NOT blow dry your hair, or do up-dos. We find the best look for your boudoir session is loose curls, but if you prefer to wear your hair straight, our beauty team can touch up your already-straightened hair. We do not perform blow outs.
Use clear deodorant & moisturize your body before your session. Don’t forget to eat something and drink lots of water the day before. A good night’s sleep will ensure you are refreshed for your photoshoot.
We ask you bring one pair of black panties to wear for the “Under the Sheets” set.
APPOINTMENT TIME & RESCHEDULES
Please arrive on time for your appointment; most photoshoots start at 10am. If you arrive early, we may still be cleaning and preparing for your arrival. Late arrival will be deducted from your session time.
Hair and makeup will take approximately 1 hour so come prepared to be pampered for a while! Your session itself will take approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.
The booking fee for your session is non-refundable and there is a $30-$100 rescheduling fee; please allow a minimum of 21 days notice for rescheduling.
HAIR COLOR/EYEBROWS
Having freshly trimmed and coloured hair and eyebrows done - if that’s your thing - will make you feel like a supermodel during your session!
HANDS AND FEET
If you normally do your nails, get a manicure and pedicure before your session (or DIY at home). Your hands and feet will show in many of your images and we don’t want chipped polish! We recommend neutrals, a french manicure, or shades of red. Polish that’s too dark or an uncommon color can clash with your wardrobe. You want something that will go with whatever you are wearing.
SPRAY TANS & TANLINES
For your session we do not recommend a spray tan if you haven’t had one done before as it will affect how your skin tone will photograph. You should also stay out of the sun to avoid any burns before your session! Retouching of streaks, tanlines and sunburns is not included in the retouching but available for an extra charge.
WARDROBE
One of the most common concerns about doing a boudoir session is, what will I wear? We take care of that too! We offer a wide range of lingerie options you can wear right in the studio. Our Style Closet has over 100 lingerie pieces in sizes XS-5XL including plus sizes, and we also have redbottom heels in sizes 5-12 in red, tan and black. We also have fancy robes and accessories you can use along with our GLORIOUS Angel Wings and our super sexy shower set that looks great with or without lingerie! We do ask that you bring a pair of black lacy panties that you can pair with some our outfits and to wear under the sheets! The only thing we don’t carry are bras.
Even though we offer a plethora of lingerie outfits (mostly bodysuits), you may want to supplement it with some of your own. Especially if your style is different, or you want to make sure it fits you well, or maybe because you want to enjoy it afterwards! Or maybe you want to bring something of your partner's to wear! Feel free to do so, or mix and match with our wardrobe as well!
ORDER and REVEAL
This is my favorite part!
You will get to see and choose your images the SAME DAY as your session! The day of your session, you will leave the studio for 90 mins for a “lunch break.” While you are gone, I will lightly retouch your images so you can see them the SAME DAY as your photoshoot! The images you select and purchase will be fully retouched and ready in about a week! We should finish about 4:30pm.
You’ll also get to feel and touch all our beautiful and fun products! You will receive an email packed with all the info you need before your appointment, including links to apply for financing, if you like.
RETOUCHING
"Do you use Photoshop?" The answer is YES. You can rest at ease knowing that we’ve been in business for a long time and our customers love how we do this. You will still be YOU, just a retouched glamorous version of you! We will also “smooth” any areas needing smoothing and “minimize” any areas needing minimizing, but we won’t make you look like another person.
JEWELRY
We love jewelry but don’t recommend earrings that are too dangly or anything too chunky. When you start doing poses where you are laying down, jewelry will “fall” and not lay correctly, so we recommend studs that are easy and will stay put. We want the camera to focus on YOU not your bling!
